R & BW

R & BW

For his fourth studio album, Bank W leans heavily into his R&B roots for a 16-track celebration of love and romance. The followup to 2009’s The W Experience, 2013’s R & BW is made in Banky’s smooth gentlemanly image, yet isn’t afraid to make his desires plain. He asks for commitment on lead single “Yes/No”, offers to keep things his cards close to his chest on “Low Key”, and promises the world on “Good Good Loving”. Other standouts include “African & Proud”, where he recruits the hip-hop skills of Vector, Ghana’s Sarkodie, South Africa’s rapper L-Tido and Kenya’s Camp Mulla. In classic R&B style, the album closer “Mercy” adds a dose of spirituality.
